This Half Term

Welcome back to Year 4, I hope you have had a lovely break and are ready for a great term ahead. I am very excited to see all the fantastic work that Year 4 will produce. Here is a quick look at some of the exciting things we will be learning this term.

In English we will looking at adventure stories. We will be looking at the adventure story 'Gulliver's Travels'. We will be discovering Gulliver's exciting adventure and discussing how characters, setting and suspense are creating. We will then use everything we have learnt to write our very own adventure story, I'm very excited to read all of Year 4's brilliant work! We will also be moving on to look at non-chronological reports. We will be looking at a variety of non-chronological reports. We will be analysing the structure, layout and language used and then will create our very own non-chronological report, linking to Gulliver's Island.

In maths we will continue to work on our times table probes (I know everyone in Year 4 will work very hard to improve their times!) This half term we will be revisiting our addition and subtraction work. We will then be recapping and extending our learning based around multiplication and division work.

In science this term we will be learning all about states of matter. We will be looking at different states of matter and the ways in which solids, liquids and gases act differently. We will be taking parts in lots of hands on, practical experiments to deepen our understanding of different states of matter.

It looks like a busy first half term for us and I am looking forward to seeing all the fantastic work that Year 4 will produce!
