This Half Term

Welcome back to Year 4, I hope you have had a lovely half term and are ready for a great term ahead. I am very excited to see all the fantastic work that Year 4 will produce. Here is a quick look at some of the exciting things we will be learning this term.

In English we will looking at fairy tales . We will be reading The Pied Piper. We will be analysing the text to look at the features of a fairy tales, specifically looking at the language and the structure. We will be using all of the knowledge we gain to help us to plan and write our own version of a fairy tale. We will also be moving on to look at non-fiction texts. We will be looking at a range of newspapers, looking at the layout, language, structure and features. It will great to create a newspaper report based on our fairy tales.

In maths we will continue to work on our times table probes (I know everyone in Year 4 will work very hard to improve their times!) This half term we will be focusing on our multiplication work. We will then use this knowledge to help us to look at area and perimeter.

In science this term we will be learning all about Sound. We will going on a sound walk around school as well as looking at the way in which different sounds are created. We will be taking part in lots of great experiments too!

It looks like a busy first half term for us and I am looking forward to seeing all the fantastic work that Year 4 will produce!
